Longleat has unveiled a number of new attractions for the 2004 season including a Super Beasts show to replace last year’s insect extravaganza, The Ugh Show.

Visitors will enter a set designed to look like a superhero’s secret underground training camp where they will meet animals with super abilities – including super survivors, super adaptors, super constrictors, and super recyclers, not to mention those that are super strong, super toxic, super hungry and super loud.

The daily shows will run from 17 July, with a 15 minute experience followed by animal handling for guests.

A spokesperson for Longleat said: “We aim to educate and entertain visitors about the super abilities some animals have, and also show them how they are superheros themselves.”

Also new for the 2004 season, which begins on 27 March, are a 1,500sq m outdoor aviary where the elephant enclosure used to be, which will be home to 40 flamingos; a walkthrough wallaby wood and a new waterside home for tapirs. Three new rhino will be joining the existing group.

A new indoor interactive soft play centre is being built in the Longleat Adventure Castle and Enchanted Storytellers will return in the summer holidays.

Longleat is also opening up a Mystical Garden Experience, where the grounds and gardens have been developed to showcase topiary and water features. It will be free to the public.

The park is also expected to unveil a further mystery attraction later this year, which will be situated where the Dr Who attraction was previously, and is expected to be another animal attraction.

The developments are part of a planned £1.4m investment for 2004 by Longleat in capital projects. This is a £100,000 increase on expenditure in 2003. Details: www.longleat.co.uk
