Bar and nightclub operator Luminar has hinted that it could be looking to sell its Jumpin’ Jaks entertainment bars after a lacklustre Christmas performance.

Stephen Thomas, the Luton-based company’s chief executive, said sales continued to fall at its entertainment division during the festive period.

“Like for like sales during the five weeks to 2 January 2006 fell by 8 per cent, primarily driven by the continued decline in the Jumpin’ Jaks units,” he said.

However, Thomas declined to confirm that a sale was imminent and added: “Any conclusions drawn from this year’s shift in Christmas trading patterns will be covered in within the company’s results statement in May.”
