The new £5m (6.3m euro, US$8.8m) spa has launched at the Armathwaite Hall Hotel, located on the bank of Bassenthwaite Lake in the Lake District, UK.

The spa concept and interiors have been designed by Douglas Wallace Designers, who have worked with consultancy Gill Haines Spa Operations.

The spa will have nine first floor treatment rooms and tranquility room.

The ground floor will provide a 50ft (16m) infinity-edged swimming pool, floor-to-ceiling waterfall and a heat experience, plus a gym.

The two-floor building is being constructed from local stone, slate and natural green timber to create a building sympathetic to its natural setting.

Jenni Paling has been appointed spa operations manager. With more than 25 years experience, prior to joining Armathwaite Hall, Paling was instrumental in establishing the spa at Farnham Estate in Co. Cavan, Ireland.
