MET Studio Design has appointed two associates to be part of its senior management structure.

Senior designers, James Norton and Lloyd Hicks, who have been with MET Studio Design for a number of years, have been promoted as associates in order to assist the company's three directors, Chris Cawte, Alex McCuaig and Chris White, with the running of the business, the management of design teams and the overseeing of projects.

Both Norton and Hicks are currently working to reprise the Environment Theatre, originally installed at Taiwan's National Museum of Science, for the City Hall in Taipei. The new £1.5m, 440sq m project, with completely new storylines, will introduce visitors to the past, present and future of the city, its geology and population via three shows.

Other projects in the MET Studio Design office include the International Wetlands Park in Hong Kong. Due to open in 2005, this 64-hectare site in Hong Kong's new territories will showcase the diversity of Hong Kong's wetland ecosystems and highlight the need to conserve them. The project will include 8,000sq m of exhibition areas and will cost in excess of HK$500m.

The client behind the initiative is the Tourism Commission, Agriculture, Fisheries and Conservation Department, in conjunction with the Architectural Services Department of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region. MET Studio Design is acting as strategic masterplanner and lead designer on the project.
