Macquarie Leisure has acquired the Panmure Superbowl in Auckland, New Zealand.

The NZ$1.5m (AU$1.3m) deal will add a second site to the company’s fledgling portfolio of bowling centres in New Zealand. It already owns and operates the Garden City Bowl in Christchurch, which it acquired in March 2006.

Greg Shaw, chief executive, said, “We are pleased to have the opportunity to continue to grow the portfolio in New Zealand.

“With a focus on acquiring underperforming leisure businesses we expect this estate to continue to deliver strong returns for our investors as we complete redevelopment opportunities and improve the product offering at these centres.”

The Panmure Superbowl comprises 24 lanes of ten pin bowling, an amusement games with 60 machines, eight pool tables, a laser tag arena and a licensed bar, restaurant and café.
