Magic Johnson's group acquires LA Dodgers
A consortium including Magic Johnson, a member of the National Basketball Association's (NBA) Hall of Fame, has acquired the US baseball franchise Los Angeles Dodgers.
Guggenheim Baseball Management has paid US$2bn (£1.3bn, EUR1.5bn) to complete the purchase in what is the highest amount ever paid for a North American sports franchise.
The purchase also includes Dodger Stadium. Last summer, the franchise entered bankruptcy after Major League Baseball refused to approve an extension to the team's TV rights deal.
Current owner Frank McCourt was given until 1 April to identify a successful bidder for the franchise by Major League Baseball and overseen by the bankruptcy court.
