Maidenhead Moor to undergo revamp
Work is to get underway on a £100,000 scheme to refurbish Maidenhead Moor in Berkshire, which the Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead (RBWM) council hopes will improve accessibility to the site.
New wildflower meadows will be established at the moor as part of the council's plans, as well as improvements to footpaths adjacent to the York Stream, the installation of new seating and improvements to the moor's footbridges. Around 150 trees of various species will also be planted as part of the scheme in a bid to replace existing poplars that the council has said will probably have to be removed within 15 years due to limited life expectancy.
Future plans for the moor include the creation of a new multi-use games area, improvements to the car park, a new picnic area and further improvements to footpaths. RWBC lead member for adult and community services, Simon Dudley, said: "The royal borough is committed to providing quality open spaces and the work on Maidenhead Moor will certainly achieve that."
