Maisha Spa opens in Afghanistan
Dubai-based spa development group Spa Resources International (SRI) has helped to open a new Maisha Spa within the Serena Hotel in Kabul, Afghanistan.
The hotel is located in the centre of Kabul city, overlooking Zarnegar Park and situated close to all the main embassies and ministries.
Maisha Spa – which means ‘life’ in Swahili – is intended to cater for an upmarket clientele of both local Afghans and expatriates, including diplomats.
The entire spa facility area covers 8,610sq ft (800sq m) and includes four treatment rooms, an outdoor heated swimming pool, a wet area, a relaxation area and a fitness club with an aerobic studio.
First built in 1945, the hotel has recently undergone a complete refurbishment, including the addition of the new wellness facilities.
Serena Kabul is owned by Serena Hotels, which has properties predominantly located across east Africa and Asia.
SRI has also recently begun consultation and design work on an extension to the existing spa at the Serena Hotel in Islamabad, Pakistan.
SRI director Daniella Russell said: “SRI hopes to transfer its operational knowledge to the local community and build the capacity for future development of the wellness industry both in the region and internationally.”
