Manchester kids cook up a treat
Ten students from Brookway High School in Wythenshawe, Manchester, have been given the chance to have a taste of working in the hospitality industry by serving up a luncheon to more than 75 guests at the City of Manchester Stadium.
The event, part of the Businesses Working with Wythenshawe project, saw pupils research, design and serve a showcase luncheon.
During the course of the programme, the 10 students visited local companies – including Manchester City Football Club (MCFC) – to learn about all aspects of food.
David Chell, head of sales at the City of Manchester Stadium, said: "We were delighted to host the luncheon, which saw the children gain first hand experience of running an event, from the room layout and menu planning through to serving the food on the day.
"The children had a great time and some of them were good enough to have a job here at Manchester City when they are older."
The events department of MCFC worked closely with the children throughout the project and offered its facilities to showcase their work.
