Marriott extends its presence in India
Marriott International is set to manage three hotels in Pune, south India, which are scheduled to open over the next three years.
The 153-room Courtyard by Marriott West Pune – scheduled to open in 2008 – will comprise an outdoor swimming pool and a fitness facility, a restaurant and bar as well as an executive lounge and a business centre.
The 250-room JW Marriott Hotel Pune will comprise part of a 13-acre, mixed-use project, which will include office and retail space.
It will feature a 1,400sq m (15,000sq ft) spa and fitness centre as well as an outdoor swimming pool with a spa bath; an all-day casual restaurant and two specialty restaurants, a lobby lounge and bar and a pool bar; and gift, beauty and barber shops.
Corporate facilities will include an executive floor and lounge as well as a business centre with meeting spaces.
Construction is expected to begin early this year, with completion by 2009.
The 430-room Pune Marriott Hotel & Convention Center – scheduled to open in 2010 – will include a 1,500sq m (16,000sq ft) spa and fitness centre as well as an outdoor swimming pool; an all-day dining restaurant, two specialty restaurants and a deli-pastry shop as well as a pool bar and an entertainment lounge and night club.
Business facilities will include an executive level and lounge with a meeting room as well as a business centre with two offices, a meeting room and two boardrooms.
All three properties are being developed by a local property development group.
Currently under construction are the JW Marriott Hotel Bangalore (2008); the Courtyard by Marriott Noida (mid-2008); the Courtyard by Marriott Gurgaon (mid-2008); the Courtyard by Marriott Kolkata (mid-2008); the Marriott Executive Apartments Gurgaon (2009) and the Courtyard by Marriott Hyderabad (2009).
Additionally; the Renaissance Mumbai Hotel & Convention Centre is adding 271 rooms, which are scheduled to open in late 2007.
