Marriott launches second Renaissance ClubSport resort
Marriott International is set to open its second Renaissance ClubSport resort in Aliso Viejo, California, US, in December 2007.
The US$65m (£35.4m, 51m euro) resort will comprise a 174-bedroom boutique hotel featuring a day spa, a restaurant and 3,000sq ft (280sq m) of meeting and event space.
Guests will have complimentary access to the sports and fitness complex, which will include cardio and free weight machines, basketball, volleyball, racquetball and squash courts in addition to more than 100 weekly group exercise classes.
Further facilities will include three outdoor swimming pools as well as locker rooms with attached saunas, steamrooms and spa baths.
Marriott International teamed up with Leisure Sports to launch the Renaissance brand concept in 2002, with the opening of a Renaissance ClubSport in Walnut Creek, California.
However, the new resort – also to be managed by Marriott – will be developed as a joint venture between Leisure Sports and Irvine-based RD Olson Developments. Californian architects Dahlin Group Architecture Planning of Pleasanton will design the complex.
Steve Gilmour, CEO and owner of Leisure Sports, said: “We are very excited to be launching Renaissance ClubSport in Aliso Viejo. Tourists, residents and businesses will appreciate having a world-class hotel and fitness resort which caters for active lifestyles.”
Marriott and Leisure Sports intend to develop a further 14 facilities over the next five to seven years. Details: www.marriott.com or www.clubsports.com
