Marriott weathers hurricanes well
US-based hotel operator Marriott has recorded operating profits of US$149m (122m euro, £84m), up from $133m (109m euro, £75m) last year, despite the disruption caused by the hurricanes Katrina and Rita.
J.W. Marriott, chair, said, “Third quarter results were very strong despite Hurricane Katrina and so far 12 of our 16 New Orleans area hotels have reopened and are again serving guests.”
