Equipment supplier Matrix Fitness has restructured its sales team and added a trio of senior roles.

In a statement the company said the restructure is part of a strategy to "focus on growth opportunities in vertical markets" – and follows an increase in year-on-year revenue.

In total, Matrix has recruited six new specialists – including the three senior positions – alongside two internal promotions.

Karen Seers has been appointed head of sector for key accounts, a role in which she will oversee the company’s partnerships with the likes of The Gym Group, Pure Gym and Xercise4Less.

Seers has worked in fitness for 25 years and spent the last seven years as commercial sales manager at Octane Fitness.

She will be joined by Paul Jones, who has been appointed key account manager. Jones joins Matrix from Core Health & Fitness where he spent the last 11 years as a regional sales manager.

In his new role, he will be tasked with defining new business opportunities and developing further strong relationships across the sector.

Meanwhile, Chris Brown has been appointed head of regional sales. An industry veteran, Brown – who has previously worked at Performance Health Systems and Fitlinxx – will be responsible for leading the team across the UK, supporting and ensuring the development of regional and corporate accounts.

Matrix's regional group has also been bolstered with three new area sales managers – Alex Nardell joins the South West team, Noel Glenister will take on sales in London and the South East, while Paul Cocksedge joins to drive business in the Midlands.

The two internal promotions will see Tim Grainger-Smith take up the role of head of sector for the public sector and Nigel Tapping named head of sector for hospitality.

"These appointments coincide nicely with our business strategy and help provide a platform for future growth and expansion into new markets," said Matt Pengelly, managing director of Matrix Fitness.

"We look forward to their collective contribution to our continued growth,"

Matrix is the commercial division of Johnson Health Tech.
