Mayor opens new Metrodome water slide
A new water slide has been officially opened at the Metrodome Leisure Complex by the Mayor of Barnsley.
The £150,000, 15m, 4-lane slide is part of an upgrade of the facility by operator Barnsley Premier Leisure to attract new swimmers.
£67,000 was provided by Barnsley Metropolitan Borough Council in conjunction with the recently launched free swimming initiative.
James Starbuck, chief executive of Barnsley Premier Leisure, said: "Due to this significant investment, the Metrodome is now without a doubt one of the best water parks in the region.
"The slide has been greatly anticipated by many of our visitors and everyone is desperately keen to try it out! With the recent introduction of free swimming for the under 18s, we thought it would be a great time to introduce the new slide, especially in time for the summer season!"
