McArdle's six-week turnaround
Wallingford Hockey Club in Oxfordshire, UK, have had their existing synthetic pitch re-surfaced by McArdle Sport-tec after having the previous surface for over 13 years.
The club chose a 18mm sand-dressed polyethylene surface, with the overall project taking six weeks from design to completion at a cost of around £125,000.
McArdle's surface has National FIH (International Hockey Federation) accreditation, meaning it is satisfactory for club level and international matches.
The surface has allowed the club to train and play all year round, while also providing the club with an additional revenue stream by hiring out the pitch to local five-a-side teams for weekly training sessions.
The company, which in addition to hockey, supplies synthetic surfaces for athletics, rugby and football, has also recently completed installations at Manchester United Football Club's Training Academy, the University of Kent and the University of Worcester.
