McDonald's unveils 2012 sponsorship plans
London's Olympic Park is to host the largest free-standing McDonald's restaurant anywhere in the world as part of the fast food chain's sponsorship plans for the 2012 Games.
A total of four McDonald's eateries will be located within the Olympic Park, with one in the Olympic Village; one in the Main Press Centre and the remaining two for spectators. McDonald's will also launch its Champions of Play for the Olympic Games to bring young people together at the Games and encourage a balanced approach to nutrition and activity.
The programme will give up to 200 children and a guardian from participating countries the chance to travel to the London 2012 Games and experience a tour of the venues. McDonald's global chief brand officer Kevin Newell said: "For the first time ever, McDonald's Champions of Play for the Olympic Games will tour and play with athletes at the actual Olympic venues."
International Olympic Committee president Jacques Rogge added, "We appreciate McDonald's incredible ability to reach millions of fans with innovative, inspiring programs that connect with the Olympic Spirit."
