Merlin bringing Dungeons attraction to San Francisco, US
Merlin has announced plans for the first of its Dungeon attractions to be built in the US, with an American-themed version coming to San Francisco, California.
The 60-minute theatrical experience will take inspiration from the local area, taking visitors on a journey through the 200-year history of the San Francisco Bay Area.
The Dungeon, which originated in London, has already expanded into Europe and will open its first-ever North American location in the Fisherman’s Wharf area of San Francisco. The attraction uses an immersive set, along with a cast of actors offering a selection of scary and comedic antics.
Visitors will journey through nine eras from the time including the Gold Rush, criminal gangs of the Barbary Coast and the world-famous Alcatraz prison.
“This city has a unique background suited for us to launch here,” said Adrea Gibbs, general manager, The San Francisco Dungeon. “We’ve had amazing access to local actors, costume makers, designers and craftsmen that are all helping us to create a special place for visitors.”
