Minister unveils new NITB events fund
Northern Ireland tourism minister Arlene Foster has launched the Northern Ireland Tourist Board's (NITB) new Tourism Events Funding Programme for 2012-13.
The initiative aims to support organisers planning events across Northern Ireland between 1 April 2012 and 31 March 2013, with 10 criteria to help determine applications. Two strands are open to organisers, with the first supporting major events attracting a high-level of visitors and global exposure. The second will back national events.
Foster said: "Events are now firmly established within the tourism fabric of Northern Ireland, adding to the positive perceptions and profile of our destination; and the events industry has a pivotal role to play in helping to deliver a competitive advantage." Details: www.nitb.com/events
