Mobile kitchen concept to enter London
Following on from trends such as pop-up restaurants and underground dining clubs, Jun Tanaka, executive chef at London's Pearl restaurant, has invested in a new "mobile kitchen" venture.
From 27 June for three months, Tanaka's Street Kitchen restaurant will serve British bistro-style lunches from its pitch on Finsbury Avenue Square within the British Land/Blackstone-owned Broadgate Estates.
The kitchen will be housed in an Airstream caravan with Tanaka aiming to use only seasonal produce from sustainable, organic farms and producers in the UK.
The menu will change day to day, depending on produce availability and Tanaka has vowed to keep prices at "street vendor level" with all dishes costing between £4.50 and £7.50.
