More patrols for Manchester’s urban parks
Manchester City Council has teamed up with Greater Manchester to provide special security patrols in city parks throughout the summer months.
The patrols will operate in and around Platt Fields Park, Whitworth Park, Birchfields Park, Alexandra Park, Crowcroft Park and King George V Park.
The council's executive member for arts and leisure, Mike Kane said: "Our parks are wonderful places for recreation and exercise and we are working closely with our partners to encourage even more people to use them."
"Joint patrols are just one of the ways we are helping to make local parks safer and more attractive places to visit."
Throughout the operation park security officers will team up with Police community support officers to provide high profile patrols to advise and re-assure park users.
Manchester Leisure and Greater Manchester Police will be based within Platt fields Park, Crowcroft Park and Alexandra Park.
