Multi million pound urban village resort for Aberdeen approved
A £25m urban village resort is to be built on the outskirts of Aberdeen as part of the Prime Four business park at Kingswells.
Scotland's first De Vere Urban Village Resort, which was approved by members of the council’s development management sub-committee, will include a five-storey 148-bedroom hotel and a luxury health spa.
It will also house a leisure club with a gym and swimming pool as well as business and conferencing facilities and restaurants and bars.
The facilities will be open to both guests at the hotel and the public.
Committee convener councillor Ramsay Milne said the resort is evidence of Aberdeen's continuing ability to attract investment and flourish despite the recession affecting business development and growth elsewhere in the UK.
"The way it's being set up is very much in the interests of the Kingswells community in that they are being provided with first class facilities which they are being encouraged to use. This is not just a hotel complex that's just for business, it's a hotel complex that's providing for the community as well."
