The two remaining one-day international cricket matches between England and India have been called off following the terror attacks in Mumbai on 27 November.

A request from the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) to postpone the sixth and seventh fixtures in the seven-game series was accepted by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) pending further discussions. ECB managing director, Hugh Morris, said: "The safety and security of the England team is of the utmost importance to the ECB. We have reviewed all our security arrangements in light of these attacks and will be taking all necessary steps to ensure the safety of the team."

"We will continue to hold further discussions with our colleagues from the BCCI over the next 24 hours." Meanwhile, the inaugural Twenty20 Champions League, which was scheduled to take place in Mumbai, Bangalore and Chennai in early December, has also been postponed.

The tournament's chair, Lalit Modi, said: "We held consultations among all the stakeholders, including the founding members, the participating teams and members of the governing council after the unfortunate terrorist attacks in Mumbai. "It was agreed that in the best interests of all concerned, the inaugural edition of the Champions League should be postponed."

England's representative in the competition was to be Middlesex Crusaders, which defeated Kent Spitfires in the domestic Twenty20 Cup final in the summer.
