Murdoch in China TV deal
Media mogul, Rupert Murdoch is set to gain access to China television audiences with his company News Corporation and rival media firm, AOL Time Warner.
In an unprecedented relaxation of its rules and subject to negotiations, the Chinese government is expected to allow the companies to broadcast in a restricted area of the wealthy province of Guangdong in return for a Chinese government-sponsored channel in the USA.
If the deal goes ahead, News Corporation and AOL Time Warner will be the first foreign companies legally broadcasting to China's domestic television audiences.
