Murray provides Scottish tennis clubs with a boost
According to the director of development at Tennis Scotland, Matt Hulbert, 18 year-old Andrew Murray’s success at Wimbledon and the US Open Juniors has already had a large impact on grassroots take-up of the sport.
Membership at city tennis clubs across Scotland has soared while Dunblane-born Murray is also having a marked influence on younger children.
“Murray’s performances have made him a much talked-about person and there has been an impact in several areas,” said Hulbert.
“According to local authorities, public interest in booking tennis courts and park courts has risen substantially and this will stimulate coaching too.” Details: www.tennisscotland.org
