Museum of African Art to be relocated
The Museum of African Art in Long Island City, New York, US, is being relocated a new permanent home on Fifth Avenue and East 110th Street.
The new building will provide more than 16,000ft (1,490sq m) of exhibition galleries; an interactive education centre; a 210-seat theatre with a stage; a semi-enclosed roof garden to host events; a café/restaurant and climate-controlled art storage and conservation facilities.
This will enable the museum to have sufficient gallery space to exhibit classic and contemporary African art concurrently, along with a gallery dedicated to African sculpture.
Completion is expected in late 2009. Details: www.africanart.com
