MuseumNext – the global conference series on the future of museums – is coming to Australia for the first time in 2017.

Representatives of museums and galleries from around the world will descend on Melbourne to highlight best practice, discuss the latest trends and think about what’s next for museums.

Produced in partnership with the Australian Centre for the Moving Image (ACMI), the three-day event will bring exploratory talks on engaging visitors with new technology and industry trends.

“As a place that not only presents contemporary and historical forms of screen culture, but also works to act as a catalyst for entirely new types of creativity, ACMI is the perfect partner for MuseumNext,” said Jim Richardson, founder of MuseumNext.

“We have seen fantastic examples of best practice highlighted at our events by museums from Australia and bringing the conference to Melbourne creates new opportunities to showcase this and for museums across the wider Asia-Pacific region to participate.”

MuseumNext Melbourne will take place 15 – 17 February 2017 at ACMI. A call for papers will be launched in July to allow anyone interested in presenting at the conference the opportunity to propose a presentation.
