NBA considers overseas fixture
The US-based National Basketball Association (NBA) has announced that it is considering the possibility of staging an All-Star Game in an international city, including London, in the near future.
London last hosted a NBA fixture in 2007 when the Boston Celtics and Toronto Raptors competed in a Europe Live showcase match, and commissioner David Stern has now touted the city as a possible venue for a future All-Star Game. The announcement was made by NBA commissioner David Stern along with Tim Leiweke, the president and chief executive of AEG, which owns the O2 Arena in London's docklands.
Referring to the 2007 Europe Live fixture, Leiweke said: "We had a great experience with them in London. Clearly it's the number one arena right now in the world as far as events and activity, and we'd like to do something else with them over there."
