NLL starts work on Airdrie leisure scheme
North Lanarkshire Leisure (NLL) has commenced work on a £411,000 scheme to deliver a series of improvements to Airdrie Leisure Centre's sports hall.
A new 150-station health and fitness area equipped by Technogym is to be created, as well as studio space for dance, fitness and spin fit classes. Ogilvie Construction has been appointed to carry out the redevelopment work on behalf of the sports trust, with the scheme due for completion by the end of June.
NLL chief executive Blane Dodds said: "We refurbished the existing fitness suite a couple of years ago, but even then it was becoming increasingly apparent that the demand for first class health and fitness provision far outstripped the space we had available. "The installation of the a 3G pitch resulted in extra and new capacity for football on a quality surface, freeing up half of the existing sports hall, allowing us to significantly increase the size of the gym to meet the considerable demand."
