NMS announces 2012 museums programme
National Museums Scotland (NMS) has announced details of a "packed" programme of exhibitions and events planned for 2012, which aims to appeal to a wide range of audiences.
It follows a successful 2011 where 1 million people visited its flagship Edinburgh site - the National Museum of Scotland - which reopened last July following a £47.4m revamp.
Fascinating Mummies will launch at the National Museum of Scotland in February, an Ancient Egypt-inspired event and the first to be held in its major new exhibition space.
Other NMS attractions including the National War Museum at Edinburgh Castle and the National Museum of Costume are also scheduled to host a variety of exhibitions in 2012.
NMS director Dr Gordon Rintoul said: "We have a packed programme of exhibitions and events including a hugely inspiring series of international exhibitions in the transformed National Museum of Scotland."
