The National Railway Museum is celebrating the British Railways dynasty with a special Cab it event.

The occasion follows the launch of the museum's latest exhibition, covering 50 years of nationalised railways and including the highly controversial proposals by Dr Richard Beeching in the early 1960s to dramatically cut rail services.

Visitors to the NRM over the weekend of 22-23 March will enjoy rare access to the cabs and footplates of a number of former British Railways locomotives and engines, including Evening Star, BRs last steam loco, Mallard, holder of the world speed record for a steam engine, and Duchess of Hamilton, BRs most powerful steam locomotive.
