NTS issues cold weather repair funding appeal
National Trust for Scotland (NTS) has launched a new campaign in order to raise funds for the repair of historic properties damaged by severe weather conditions.
According to the trust, one of the coldest Decembers for 100 years has led to problems such as broken gutters, burst pipes and damaged plant life. Some of the worst-affected sites include Threave Garden and Estate, which requires repairs to its network of paths after water seeped into cracks and froze.
Mar Lodge Estate in Braemar and Canna are also among the sites in most need of work to address issues caused by the severe wintry weather. NTS chief executive Kate Mavor said: "A conservative estimate suggests that we could be spending in excess of £100,000 on extra repairs this year."
