National Museum of the US Army plans revealed
Designs for the new National Museum of the United States Army at Fort Belvoir, Virginia, US, have been unveiled.
Project director Judson Bennett Jr said: "The current renderings are the product of many hours of meetings and coordination among a team intent on providing our army, its soldiers and veterans and their families, and the general public with a world class historical and educational facility."
The plans drawn up by architects Skidmore, Owings & Merrill (SOM) of New York for the 41-acre campus include an adjacent amphitheatre, memorial gardens and a parade ground.
Mark Regulinski, managing partner at SOM, added: "It's important to note that these renderings are conceptual and an early but important milestone in the architectural design process.
"Some changes can be expected. Over the next month we'll continue our work in close coordination with Mr Bennett and his staff and the Christopher Chadbourne & Associates' exhibit design team on any necessary external and internal modifications."
Funding for the project US$200m (£121m, 134m euro) project is being raised by the Army Historical Foundation.
