National Music Museum in the US to be expanded
The National Music Museum and Centre for Study of the History of Musical Instruments in Vermillion, USA is planning a US$12m (£7m, 9m euro) expansion. Containing more than 15,000 instruments, many priceless and some dating back to the 1500s, the musuem, at the University of South Dakota, draws thousands of visitors a year.
The expansion will connect both existing buildings, repositioning the main entrance to the centre of the buildings. The plans put forward by Schwartz-Silver Architects and Koch Hazard Architects are striking, but in keeping with original buildings, by incorporating the colour and texture of the limestone.
The project is scheduled to start next year.
