National Park proposals for Jersey
The government of Jersey has launched a public consultation to help shape proposals for the creation of the island's first National Park in the St Ouens Bay area.
Plans for a new National Park have already received strong support from islanders after the idea was put forward in recent consultation over the government's green paper for its Island Plan. The planning and environment minister, Freddie Cohen, hopes that the consultation will help determine a number of key issues concerning the proposed National Park, including its boundaries, the additional protection applied to the area, and the objectives a National Park would promote.
Cohen said: "The concept of a National Park needs positive consideration. I am enthused by islanders' support, so far, for investigating the possibilities. I believe the creation of a National Park will help conserve the St Ouens Bay area for future generations."
