Natural History Museum is squids in
An 8.6m (28ft) giant squid – the most complete ever found – is being displayed in the Darwin Centre at the Natural History Museum in London, UK.
The squid – Architeuthis dux – has been preserved in a glass tank containing salwater and formalin and can only be seen as part of a behind-the-scenes tour, which is currently fully booked until the end of April.
The squid was caught off the Falkland Islands’ coast in 2004 and kept frozen until scientists began the preservation process. Details: www.nhm.ac.uk
