Neath Port Talbot District Sports Council unveils hall of fame
Neath Port Talbot District Sports Council has unveiled its millennium sporting hall of fame at leisure centres in the region.
Commemorative boards honouring 16 sportsmen and women have been displayed at centres run by Celtic Community Leisure, which sponsored the scheme.
The public was given the chance to nominate suggestions for the hall of fame before the final 16 were chosen by a panel. Those honoured include Cyril Walters (cricket), Freddy Williams (speedway), Brian Hagget (golf), Gareth Edwards (rugby), Shirley Ellis-Morgan (hockey) and Alison Roberts (swimming).
Neath Port Talbot District Sports Council was named Local Sports Council of the Year in Wales in 2004.
