New £60,000 play area for Great Oakley
Tendring District Council (TDC) has announced the start of construction work on a new £60,000 play area, which is being created in Great Oakley, Essex.
The council is working with Great Oakley Parish Council to provide the facility, which is due to open at the end of the month and will feature a multi-play unit and a zip wire. Five-a-side football goalposts and swings are also proposed as part of the scheme, which received £48,000 from Essex County Council's Playbuilder programme.
TDC cabinet member for leisure Stephen Mayzes said: "It is important that there are sites where young people can get out and play and improve their well-being within easy reach of where they live." Bruce Landscapes designed the new play area.
