New Chance loco for California zoo
Santa Barbara Zoo in California has taken delivery of a third C. P. Huntington locomotive from Chance Rides.
The new 6,100lb/2,767kg engine, painted red and black and with chrome trim, has been named 'Emmett' by its sponsors, the Duncan family and Rusty's Pizza Parlors. 'Emmett' joins existing locomotives 'Kate' and 'Victor', similarly sponsored.
The locos are all one-third size replicas of a circa 1863 locomotive called the C.P. Huntington, the first locomotive purchased by the Southern Pacific Railroad and named after one of the company's presidents.
