New Hilton for Manchester
Plans have been submitted to Manchester City Council from the Beetham Organization and Hilton International for a new £150m, 47-storey glass tower building to be built in the city centre.
Situated at the crossroads of Deansgate, Great Bridgewater Street and Liverpool Road, the new structure will combine residential apartments, office space and a 285-bed, five-star hotel to be run by Hilton International.
Planning permission has been requested for 185,000sq ft of residential space, a 230,000sq ft hotel and 70,000sq ft of office space. The site had already been earmarked as an area of regeneration by Manchester council and the new scheme should provide over 200 new jobs.
The structure has been designed by Ian Simpson Architects and, when completed, will become the UK’s tallest residential tower, at 171m high. Prices in the residential tower will start at £100,000, rising to £2.5m for the top floor penthouse. Details: www.beetham.uk.com
