New Olympic Park corporation launches
The new London Legacy Development Corporation (LLDC) has been launched, taking over responsibility for the ongoing regeneration of the Olympic Park and surrounding areas.
Created using powers given to the mayor of London under the Localism Act 2011, the body has assumed the duties of the now-defunct Olympic Park Legacy Company (OPLC).
A board has been appointed to the LLDC, which includes Baroness Ford - chair of the OPLC and now chair of the new organisation until the end of the 2012 Games.
Jules Pipe, Sir Robin Wales and Lutfur Rahman, mayors of Hackney, Newham and Tower Hamlets respectively, are also among those to be appointed to the LLDC board, along with Waltham Forest Council leader Chris Robbins.
