An agreement between the Saskatchewan government, the City of Regina and Saskatchewan Roughriders has paved the way for a new stadium on Evraz Place lands in Regina, Canada.
It is hoped the CA$278m (US$273m, EUR224m, £176m) facility will be completed for use by the American Football team in early 2017. It will have a capacity of 33,000 spectators.
An CA$80m (US$79m, EUR64m, £51m) government grant over four years will finance the project, along with CA$73m (US$72m, EUR59m, £46m) from the City of Regina.
Saskatchewan Roughriders will head efforts to raise CA$25m (US$25m, EUR20m, £16m), while a further CA$100m (US$98m, EUR81m, £63m) will be provided by the province.
The CA$100m plus interest will be fully repayable over 30 years and will be mainly funded through a facility fee on games and major events held at the new stadium.
Regina mayor Pat Fiacco said: "This funding announcement means the vision to revitalize the heart of Regina is becoming a reality.
"The agreement means this community, and the province, will have a 21st century multi-purpose facility that meets the needs of the community for generations to come."
Planning and design concept work will now get underway, with construction work due to commence next year.
