New chair for Space Centre
Mike Kapur has been appointed chair of the National Space Centre (NSC) in Leicester following the retirement of Phillip Hammersley.
Kapur has worked with the National Space Centre since the early 1990s, being part of the first steering group for the NSC.
He is currently non-executive director and deputy chair of university hospitals for the Leicester NHS Trust.
Commenting on his appointment, Kappur said: "I am extremely excited by the prospect of working with the dynamic young team at the NSC.
"I'm committed to the centre remaining a high quality educational experience provider, using space science as the stimulus to get youngsters interested in science subjects."
Founded in June 2001 the NSC has attracted more than 1.8m people, including 350,000 school children.
