New charities lottery launched
UK lottery operator Chariot has launched an alternative to the National Lottery called Monday – The Charities Lottery.
The new lottery – to be known as ‘Monday’ – aims to raise £150m for UK charities each year. So far, it has teamed up with 70 registered charities.
For every £1 spent, 30p will go directly to the charities – five times more than with the National Lottery game – which then have complete control on how best to spend the funds.
Chariot claims that Monday is fairer than the National Lottery because players are 27 times more likely to win a jackpot, as the new game features two jackpots instead of one.
The winner is the player with the nearest match to the six winning numbers and there are no rollovers. Cash prizes are also given for three, four and five matching numbers.
In addition, players need no longer fear losing their tickets, as the game is played online at www.playmonday.com from 24 April.
