New coffee concept opens
An Italian style coffee chain is the latest addition to the UK coffee market with the opening of its first outlet in Cardiff Bay.
Coffee Mania, the flagship café from new company, Coffee Mania Ltd, has opened at the £35m Mermaid Quay retail and shopping centre and with further openings planned for openings in central Cardiff, Bristol and Bath.
The 93sq m site was founded by Paul Chandler, former head of catering at Cardiff International Arena, and Sarah Thomas, formerly restaurant manager at the St. David's Hall concert venue.
Commenting on the launch, Paul Chandler said: We believe that our concept has the edge over coffee chains such as Starbucks and Coffee Republic because we also serve good value meals and alcoholic drinks, giving it a truly Mediterranean feel.
