New council-led tourism initiative for Belfast
Belfast City Council (BCC) has launched a new initiative to encourage visitors to explore locations outside of the centre of the Northern Ireland capital.
Delivering Tourism Locally is designed to establish a series of projects that will cover all parts of the city and cover a range of themes, such as industrial and cultural heritage. Schemes include a new cultural corridor in north Belfast; improved marketing of the west Belfast area; and plans to use the Titanic legacy to increase tourism in the east of the city.
BCC development committee chair Conor Maskey said: "All parts of this city have something to offer visitors, and they all have their own stories to tell. "The council is committed to ensuring that the entire city benefits from our position as a vibrant European destination, and that visitors have the opportunity to explore every aspects of the city and what it has to offer them."
