New event to promote domestic holidays

Best of Britain and Ireland 2009, a new event designed to promote domestic tourism, is to be held at London's ExCeL centre on 26-29 March.

The event, which will coincide with the end of British Tourism Week, includes the Best of Britain and Ireland Travel Trade Forum on 26-27 March followed by a two-day consumer event to boost British and Irish holidays. More than 400 exhibitors will be on show at the event, which has been organised in partnership with the national tourism agency, VisitBritain, and is supported by VisitEngland, VisitScotland, Tourism Ireland and VisitWales.

Angie Watson, director of Best of Britain and Ireland, said: "With the emphasis on economic and environmental concerns, 2009 is going to be an important year for domestic tourism. "We promise not only a fun, interactive day out for visitors of all ages, but also an informative day, so consumers can learn more about the fantastic holiday experience available right on their doorstep."
