New exhibition for National Codes Centre
The National Codes Centre (NCC) at Bletchley Park has opened its new exhibition complex, called Block B.
Celebrating the centre’s history, the new exhibition is housed in a refurbished wartime building and offers visitors the chance to learn about the history of Bletchley Park’s code breaking that took place during the Second World War.
The exhibition includes an interactive display of a German U-boat Enigma station and, for the first time, a part of an original Colossus – the world’s first semi-programmable electronic computer – will be on public display.
NCC has also increased the number of activities aimed at children aged eight- to 16-year-olds.
The new exhibition begins with a timeline and a children’s cartoon history of Bletchley Park, while the centre also offers a number of educational programmes in history, science and mathematics – including courses in codes and ciphers.
Block B was officially opened by the Duke of Kent on 10 June. Details: www.bletchleypark.org.uk
