New football facility opens in Swindon
A new £1.5m football facility has been officially unveiled at Crofts Sports Centre, Swindon, which includes a floodlit 3G artificial grass pitch and two full size pitches.
Two youth and four mini soccer pitches with improved drainage have also been provided as part of the scheme, which received £224,470 from the Football Foundation. An additional £150,000 was also contributed by the Football Association through its Whole Sport Plan agreed with Sport England, which aims to help sustain community clubs.
Swindon Borough Council met the remaining cost of the development, which will provide a home for Croft Junior Football Club and Old Town United Junior Football Club.
