New heritage trail opens at Kenley Common
A new heritage trail, which has been designed to commemorate the 70th anniversary of the Battle of Britain, has been opened at Kenley Common near Whyteleafe, Surrey.
The new path, which also aims to celebrate the role played by the airfield at Kenley Common has been created by a number of organisations such as site owner, the City of London Corporation (CLC). Kenley Airfield Friends Group, the RAF Association, Tandridge District Council, English Heritage and the Ministry of Defence have also worked on the scheme, which included the installation of interpretative panels.
Barbara Newman, chair of CLC's Epping Forest and Commons committee, said: "The new heritage trail highlights the historic importance of the site and I hope that everyone, in particular, children and young people, will enjoy using it."
