New interactive enclosure for Dreamworld
Two rare white lions are to be the first animals to be exhibited in a new interactive enclosure being constructed at the Dreamworld theme park in Queensland, Australia.
The lions are to temporarily relocate from their permanent home at Canberra's National Zoo and Aquarium to take up residence at the Gold Coast attraction. Due to open ahead of the April school holidays, the enclosure will be sited near the entrance to Tiger Island and will feature a range of interactive elements.
It is anticipated that the 334sq m (3,595sq ft) enclosure, which features purpose-engineered glass, will be able to cater for a range of exotic animals at different times of the year. Dreamworld general manager for life sciences Al Mucci said: "White lions will be the first exotic animal we introduce to the new enclosure and we are looking into other exotic carnivores that have never before been displayed on the Gold Coast."
